Laser Plumbing & Electrical won Marketing Campaign of the Year at the 2025 Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards. This year it's a finalist in the same category, for the Laser CPD property managers growth campaign we built together.
Being a finalist two years running, with two very different campaigns, is something we're proud of. Credit goes to the Laser members who took this one on and made it work in their own towns.
The 2025 winner, ‘Across the Country, Around the Corner’, was a brand campaign on billboards, vans and social. Laser CPD is aimed at one group of people: the property and facilities managers who decide who fixes the leaks and the switchboards in the homes they look after.
They're hard to reach and wary of sales calls, but they have to stay across electrical and plumbing rules. So we built two short professional development sessions, Electrical Essentials and Plumbing and Gas Fitting Essentials, that Laser members present to them. Each ends with a quiz and a Laser certificate. Members get the decks, an email invitation, social ads and certificates, and we train them to present.
In March 2026, 20 people from 18 member locations came to the training day. By April, 32 members had attended a CPD informer session. In Queenstown, one session for four property managers led to jobs, and a local community housing trust shared it with its network. That opened talks about solar across 20 properties in Queenstown and Wānaka.
The winners are announced at the awards night on 14 November. Mighty sponsors the category, and the winner is the judges' call, not ours. If Laser's name is read out again, we'll be very happy to hand the trophy over for a second year.
